We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in Health and Safety; our Health & Safety Management System is accredited by UKAS – ISO 45001: 2018. As a company, we believe that by working to this standard, we will continue to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both our employees and members of the public.

High standards in Health & Safety are also good for business. Research shows that attention to health and safety benefits in many ways: the reduction of accidents, injuries, time lost, damage to plant and equipment, delays to a project due to investigation, insurance premiums, fines and legal costs. We know that our ability to operate safely impacts our reputation, our relations with our employees and our clients’ trust in us.

We believe that high standards in Health and Safety are not only critical for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our employees, but also members of the public or any person who may be affected by our works.

We undertake the following measures to protect our workers, and anyone potentially affected by our works:

Our management demonstrate the expected standards and the importance of Health and Safety.

Our work force have the skills, knowledge, experience and training to carry out their work.

Our works activities are set out within our approved SSOW, detailing the methods and sequences of the works, complete with risk assessment for all activities.

Health and safety information is communicated to our work force:  through briefings of the SSOW and risk assessments, relevant safety alerts to all projects and regular tool box talks on site.  Employees are consulted and involved on health and safety matters where applicable and invited to make use of our “Open Door” policy.

Flatley Construction is a member of a confidential incident reporting and analysis service (CIRAS), so that anyone can report a concern that will be investigated and resolved.

Our projects are regularly visited by a competent and qualified Health and Safety Officer, who undertakes a full site safety audit: a physical inspection of the site conditions and practices, checks on relevant plant certification, operative competencies etc.
